Privacy Policy

Effective date: April 18, 2026

1. Overview

Og AI ("we", "our", or "the extension") is a Chrome browser extension that provides AI-powered assistance on webpages. This policy explains what data we access, how it is used, and your rights as a user.

2. Data We Do Not Collect

Og AI does not collect, store, transmit, or sell any personally identifiable information. We do not operate a central server that receives your queries or browsing activity. All AI requests are sent directly from your browser to the backend URL you configure — a URL you own and control.

3. Your Backend, Your Data

Og AI requires you to supply your own backend endpoint (e.g. a Railway deployment). Your API keys and query content travel exclusively between your browser and your backend. Og AI has no access to this traffic.

4. Local Storage

The extension uses Chrome's storage API to save your preferences (backend URL, selected tier, sidebar state) locally on your device. This data never leaves your browser unless you explicitly share it.

5. Permissions

Og AI requests the following Chrome permissions:

activeTab & scripting — to read the content of the current page so it can answer questions about it.

storage — to persist your settings locally.

contextMenus — to add a right-click option for selected text.

We do not request access to your browsing history, bookmarks, cookies, or any other sensitive data.

6. Third-Party Services

Queries are processed by the AI provider connected to your backend (e.g. Anthropic's Claude API). Please review the privacy policy of whichever AI provider your backend uses. Og AI has no control over, and no visibility into, those interactions.

7. Children's Privacy

Og AI is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
